Tencent open-sourced Hy-MT1.5-1.8B on April 29 — distilled from the Hunyuan translation foundation model, compressed to 440MB, supporting 33 languages and 5 dialects across 1,056 translation directions. Runs offline on phones; demos used Snapdragon 865 and 7+ Gen 2. The article claims translation quality beats Google Translate and other mainstream systems. Available on Hugging Face and ModelScope.
