Sora (December 2024 public release after February 2024 demo) is OpenAI's text-to-video model. Bundled with ChatGPT Plus ($20/mo, 50 generations/mo at 480p, up to 5s) and Plus Pro ($200/mo, 1080p, 20s). Generations from text or image prompts, with remix / loop / blend tools in the Sora-dot-com UI. Quality varies — best on cinematic single-subject shots, weaker on multi-character physics.

The brand pick for client-facing content — when 'what model did you use?' is part of the conversation, Sora has the recognition. Real performance leaders by genre: Veo 2 for physics + multi-shot, Kling 1.6 for character animation (and far cheaper for Chinese builders), Runway Gen-3 for editing-friendly workflow. Sora's UI is the smoothest; raw output quality has been overtaken.
