Recraft V3 (October 2024) is the surprise top-of-leaderboard text-to-image model from a small London-based studio. As of release it took #1 on Artificial Analysis Image Arena ahead of FLUX.1.1 Pro, Ideogram, and Imagen 3. Specialty: in-image typography (genuinely the best), vector-style outputs, brand-consistent character/style retention. $0.04/image via API, also a UI app for designers.
Editor's verdict
Pick Recraft V3 when text-in-image matters most — flyers, ad creatives, slide visuals, business cards. The vector output mode is genuinely useful for designers (most other text-to-image gives you raster only). Weakness: photographic realism is below FLUX.1 Pro, and the model is younger so the LoRA/finetune ecosystem is thin. Worth knowing about — too many builders default to DALL-E or FLUX without checking it.
