Editor's verdict
Historic significance: this is the model that made Cursor and Windsurf good. For new builds in 2026, Sonnet 4.6 is straight better at the same $3/$15 price — there's no reason to pick 3.5 Sonnet unless you have a frozen production prompt that you don't want to re-validate. If you're benchmarking the 'classic Claude code feel' against newer models, this is the baseline.
