巴黎的 AI 實驗室，以高效的歐洲 open-weight 模型聞名，推出 Mistral 7B、Mixtral 8x7B、商業版 Mistral Large。

Mistral AI 是 2023 年成立的法國 AI 實驗室，創辦人 Arthur Mensch（CEO，前 DeepMind）、Guillaume Lample、Timothée Lacroix（都是前 Meta AI、原版 Llama 的關鍵貢獻者）。位於巴黎，是歐洲最知名的 AI 實驗室，募資超過 $1B 同時保持相對精瘦——他們常以較小的團隊規模交出競爭性結果。它重要的原因是：Mistral 是歐洲對美國 AI 主導的回應，而且他們的模型一直打超出自己級別。Mistral 7B（2023 年 9 月）發佈時被廣泛認為是最好的 7B 模型。Mixtral 8x7B 把流行的 sparse MoE 架構引入 open-source。早期模型用 Apache-2 授權讓它被廣泛採用。主要產品：Mistral 7B、Mixtral 8x7B 跟 8x22B（open-weight MoE）、Mistral Large（商業前緣）、Codestral（coding）、Mistral Embed、Le Chat（消費者助理）、以及跟 Microsoft 的合作把 Mistral 模型 host 在 Azure。 Mistral 把較新模型部分轉為專有授權，但繼續開源較小模型。他們是 open-source 生態的重要一塊，也是對美中 AI 雙頭壟斷的制衡。延伸閱讀：Mistral family、Mixture of Experts、open-source、Llama family。
