巴黎的 AI 实验室，以高效的欧洲 open-weight 模型闻名，推出 Mistral 7B、Mixtral 8x7B、商业版 Mistral Large。

Mistral AI 是 2023 年成立的法国 AI 实验室，创办人 Arthur Mensch（CEO，前 DeepMind）、Guillaume Lample、Timothée Lacroix（都是前 Meta AI、原版 Llama 的关键贡献者）。位于巴黎，是欧洲最知名的 AI 实验室，募资超过 $1B 同时保持相对精瘦——他们常以较小的团队规模交出竞争性结果。它重要的原因是：Mistral 是欧洲对美国 AI 主导的回应，而且他们的模型一直打超出自己级别。Mistral 7B（2023 年 9 月）发布时被广泛认为是最好的 7B 模型。Mixtral 8x7B 把流行的 sparse MoE 架构引入 open-source。早期模型用 Apache-2 授权让它被广泛采用。主要产品：Mistral 7B、Mixtral 8x7B 跟 8x22B（open-weight MoE）、Mistral Large（商业前沿）、Codestral（coding）、Mistral Embed、Le Chat（消费者助手）、以及跟 Microsoft 的合作把 Mistral 模型 host 在 Azure。 Mistral 把较新模型部分转为专有授权，但继续开源较小模型。他们是 open-source 生态的重要一块，也是对美中 AI 双头垄断的制衡。延伸阅读：Mistral family、Mixture of Experts、open-source、Llama family。
